Khachkars

Diaspora communities and governments have erected khachkars as public monuments on multiple continents: a cross-stone was installed at Vienna's Schwedenplatz in 2012 to mark Armenian-Austrian diplomatic relations, while others stand in Buenos Aires and Glendale, California. Each installation continues the medieval function of the khachkar as a commissioned civic and memorial monument.
