Khachkars

The 'Art of Armenian khachkar, symbolism and craftsmanship of Armenian cross-stones' was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2010. The listing covers the living craft practice — the knowledge and skill of carving transmitted from master to apprentice — not individual stone monuments or cemetery sites.
