Argam Ayvazyan's 1970s–1980s field surveys of Jugha produced the primary pre-destruction visual record: a systematic photographic catalogue documenting thousands of khachkars and steles by location, date, and iconographic type. His catalogue provided the baseline against which post-2002 satellite imagery confirmed the scale of subsequent demolition.
