Khachkars

Armenian folk tradition attributes healing and protective properties to specific 'Amenaprkich' (All-Savior) type khachkars. This folk belief is categorically distinct from the craft tradition: a stone's attributed efficacy arose through popular veneration, not carver design. The UNESCO 2010 inscription file acknowledges both the craft lineage and folk belief dimensions of the tradition.
