Mythology

In the fourth cycle of the Daredevils of Sassoun, the legendary Pokr Mher (Little Mher), son of David, is fated to be imprisoned inside a rock—traditionally identified with Van Rock—because he cannot enter a world full of injustice. The legend holds that Mher will emerge only when the world becomes just, a narrative source underlying the folk continuity with the Vardavar festival tradition.
