Aramazd was the supreme deity of the Armenian pre-Christian pantheon, a direct adaptation of the Iranian Ahura Mazda (Avestan Ohrmazd). His principal cult center at Bagavan (Bagayarich) in the province of Bagrewand hosted the Navasard new-year festival, making it the religious capital of pre-Christian Armenia.
