Armenian Diaspora

The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Hay Heghapokhakan Dashnaktsutyun, ARF or 'Dashnak') was founded in Tiflis in 1890 to coordinate Armenian self-defense against Ottoman and Hamidian violence. After the 1921 Soviet takeover of Armenia, the ARF relocated its institutional base to the diaspora, where it now operates branches across more than 30 countries on five continents.
