Armenian Diaspora

Lebanon's Armenian community — concentrated in the Bourj Hammoud district of greater Beirut — was once estimated at 156,000 in the mid-20th century but has shrunk to between 50,000 and 100,000 amid the Lebanese civil war (1975–1990) and the post-2019 economic collapse. It remains one of the oldest continuously settled Armenian communities outside historic Armenia, with roots predating 1915.
