Armenian Diaspora

By the early 1700s, an established Armenian community of roughly 70 families lived in Amsterdam, drawn by Dutch Republic neutrality and the city's role as a textile-finishing hub for raw silk arriving from Iran. The community ran one of Europe's earliest Armenian printing presses, producing books for both diaspora and homeland markets.
