Armenian Diaspora

Armenian merchants of New Julfa traded silk, sugar, cotton, raisins, carpets, and dyes across overland routes from Persia to Poland and the Baltic; Cilician-Armenian houses additionally moved spices, gemstones, and indigo through the Mediterranean ports of Marseille and Livorno. Each commodity had its own seasonal cycle and credit network coordinated by family ledgers.
