The Jrapi Caravanserai, dating to the 10th–11th centuries, sits on the medieval route linking Georgia to the Armenian capital of Ani. Built of black tuff in three arched bays with stone troughs along its inner walls, the structure survives — though now half-submerged whenever the Akhurian Reservoir behind the Soviet-era dam fills to capacity.
