Armenian Diaspora

By the late 17th and 18th centuries, the New Julfa-rooted Armenian merchant diaspora maintained permanent commercial colonies stretching from Manila and Madras to Amsterdam, Venice, Livorno, Marseille, and Lviv โ€” with documented trading houses in Calcutta, Bombay, Singapore, Java, Tibet, and the Russian Volga ports. The same families ran offices on three continents simultaneously.
