During Armenian Christmas (January 6, Surb Tsnund), families bake a coin or token into the gata pastry; whoever finds it in their slice is said to receive blessings for the year ahead. The custom mirrors French galette des rois and Greek vasilopita, but locks specifically to the Armenian Theophany rather than Epiphany or New Year.
