On the Sunday closest to August 15 — the Feast of the Assumption — Armenian churches conduct the Blessing of the Grapes (Khaghoghorhnek), in which clergy bless the season's first grape harvest before the congregation may taste them. Many parishes observe a grape-fast from August 1 until the blessing, a Late Antique liturgical practice unique to the Armenian Apostolic Church.
