Genocide & Resilience

Bourj Hammoud, on the northeastern edge of Beirut, was settled by Armenian genocide survivors from the early 1920s onward. By the 1930s it contained Armenian schools, churches of multiple rites, and community presses, becoming the canonical center of Lebanese-Armenian life and eventually home to an estimated 70,000โ€“80,000 Armenians.
