Wine & Viticulture

In 2004, Argentine-Armenian billionaire Eduardo Eurnekian — one of the most prominent figures in the global Armenian diaspora — purchased 2,300 hectares of land in Armenia's Armavir province at the foot of Mount Ararat, planting 450 hectares of vineyards under the Tierras de Armenia company. The resulting Karas Wines label, named for the ancient clay amphora, became one of Armenia's most internationally distributed wines — one of the clearest examples of diaspora capital transforming Armenian viticulture.
