First Christian Nation

Freed from Khor Virap, Gregory healed King Tiridates and converted him to Christianity. After a period of fasting and preparation, the king was baptized along with his wife Queen Ashkhen and his sister Khosrovidukht — and he then proclaimed Christianity the official religion of Armenia, making it the first state in history to adopt Christianity at the national level.
